Are you cell phone bills high? This is the question I pose to many, and the overwhelming reply is, "Yes, my bills are high." With over 10 years of experience in the wireless industry we are accustomed to hearing that statement, and so that's why we decided to launch this site, MyBillsAreHigh.com.
Canada is one of the most expensive countries with respect to communication costs. As experts in the industry, we stand witness to how cell phone carriers take advantage of consumers by promoting plans that are designed to make the user incur some form of overage. It would be easy to solely blame the carriers,...

Bell customers without a text message package are about to be paying higher cell phone plans thanks to a move to increase the cost of pay-per-use text messaging. Starting August 1st, Bell (and it's subsidiary Virgin Mobile) will be increasing the cost of transmitting these tiny packets of data over their network. The changes to be made are as follows:
Effective August 1, 2011, pay-per-use text messaging rates will change as follows:
- Sent and received text messages (including messages sent to the U.S.) will be changed from $0.15/message to the rate of $0.20/message.
- Text messages sent...

In Canada's cellular market, there's a race going on amongst the carriers to launch 4G cellular service first. If you look south of the border, 4G has become a major buzz word that companies are claiming to offer their 3.5G HSPA+ service as '4G' simply to sell more phones. Although HSPA+ service is fast (at up to 42mbps) to the engineers in the industry it's not quite 4G. With Rogers being the latest in the Canadian cell phone market to start to push the term, it's time to learn a bit about what 4G technology is, and what we can expect.
LTE, which stands for Long Term Evolution, is the true...

The M.I.C. Gadget website has posted images of a new iPhone featuring a larger screen. They also post an image with a side-by-side comparison to show the difference with the current generations screen size and the difference is relatively small. If these pictures are said to be of a real prototype, it leads me to believe that the next generation iPhone will feature other selling points than simply pushing screen real estate. Such features may include:
8 Megapixel Camera
Increased Storage (32GB and 64GB variants)
A5 dual core processor chip
HSPA and EVDO Cellular Connectivity
Apple...
The elusive White iPhone 4 which was originally announced at the same time as it's Black counterpart might finally come to market later this week. Consistently delayed, the tech community eventually grew to believe that the White iPhone 4 would never be released. Many rumours had traveled the web as to why this model had been delayed, and thanks to Steve Wozniak's appearance on The Engadget Show, many believed it was due to the white casing interfering with the optics of the camera.
Alas, inventory sku's are showing up in inventory systems across Canada. A retailer in Belgium received their...

The much anticipated Blackberry Playbook was released on April 19th and marks Research In Motion's first foray into the lucrative tablet market. The Blackberry Playbook was first announced in September of 2010 and since then, hype grew steadily for what many considered would be the first true contender to Apple's iPad line of devices. As the release date approached, and reviews started to trickle out, the hype began to fade. The reviews have thus far been rather weak for this wifi only tablet, citing a lack of key features (such as calendar functionality) and an overall unfinished feel. This tablet,...

With over 100 choices in tablet computers coming to market this year, most of them running Google's Android OS, it seems like tablet computers are taking over portable computing. But can these 'magical' devices really replace ones laptop computer?
I own an iPad. It was a great purchase decision for me just before I was about to embark on a 50 day cross Europe backpacking trip. The iPad was to be my way to send e-mails, book flights, research hostels, and read books. Was it effective? Absolutely. My iPad turned out to be a great travel companion and it's ridiculously long battery life proved...

Despite negative press from television programs like "Canada's Worst Cell Phone Bill" broadcast on CBC, the big cellular phone companies continue to burn their own customers with outrageous mobile phone bills that reach into the thousands. One Calgary man opened his bill to find that he owed Virgin Mobile, a division of Bell Mobility, $7,763.70.
Jason Boutang went to France between July 1st and 7th and failed to get a mobile roaming data package for his iPhone before he left. It can be argued that he used his phone irresponsibly while away, streaming a Calgary rock radio station, using a web based...
